(Written on Sunday when I was buzzed from watching the PV for the first time. You're welcome to ignore this stale piece of cybercrap since it's stale news now)
Here I am, about write about something pertaining to my real life (need not be known) but I find that Buono!’s newest single PV is out. Casting aside all comparisons to Puffy (who are rock-hard awesome imo), I take a look at the PV and gave “Renai Rider” another chance.
Like “Honto no Jibun,” “Renai Rider” took a while to grow me (much like “Mikan” did months back) and I’d have to admit: it’s a pretty good song. I found myself bopping to the beat as the song went by, even cheering on Miya-chan, Momo-chan, and Airi-chan. Could it be that Buono! could be the Hello! Project Kids mascots/ambassadors of “Morning Meteora”? They suit the “cute little rockers” image perfectly (plus, they kick some serious derrière!).
Yup, this dosage of Hello! Rock was just what the doctor ordered for my cold this past weekend. (Hearts in the eyes = major cuteness! *squeals* Kusumi and Chester, you two have some competition on the “kawamoe” department). From the bike race to the cute ukelele (aloha!), this is PV heaven (it will be until the next great PV).
I dunno if it’s just me but Buono may have some potential after Shugo Chara!? May sound like I’m turning into another Radical (no offense, dude) but I see a lot of potential for this little trio. In fact… these girls made me remember two J-rock girls I used to jam to. Nanase Aikawa and Hitomi Yaida… why did I suddenly lose interest in you two?! Yaiko-san’s “loud” vocalizations somewhat prepared me for the more extreme hollering of Chester (which is even more of a challenge to imitate than Yaiko’s vocal style - and it‘s probably an insult to put Yaiko-sama on the same level as Chestan). Even Puffy (whom I had the pleasure of seeing live, the first and -until either February 10 or 11- only act to be so!) fall into this category (it’s weird for me to call them by their Japanese name, having become used to their American name. Curse you, Sean Combs and the American Legal System!). (Or maybe I’m going into fangirl overdrive since I adore the rock scene in many forms and Buono is heaven for me, instrumental in having me warm up to three Kids I barely pay attention to and the Kids in general).
Ride on, Buono, ride on!
(All of this talk about automobiles is reminding me of other songs *Beep-Beep! Beep-Beep! Yeah!* Magi-Kat, just shut up and let Buono drive)
Magi-Kat, out! *drives into the sunset with Buono at the wheel*
